Reordering and Re-reordering of Weblog Posts
posted by Chip Witt
Anyone that visits my weblog often enough (or has a outside utility watching the RSS feeds) may have noticed that my site got scrambled a bit recently. Posts appeared to all be from the same recent day in history instead of their actual creation date. This was due to a crashing of the hard drive in the server hosting this site, and a failure to preserve access times when restoring the plain-text files that produce the weblog entries via Blosxom. This might very well be the best argument for database driven weblog software...but I'm not sure it is reason enough to move away from my favorite.
I must admit, it took several days for me to notice...so it is possible no one else did at all. Anyway, I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. It's all better now...with posts reflecting thier original publication dates again.
Cheers,
"Each blog is like a fireplace, and each post is like a log heaved on top to keep the fire burning. Every post has its own ¨permalink¨, so others can point directly to it. As long as a blog puts out heat and light, others who care about the author's subject are drawn to it. So are Google and other search engines, which sift constantly through the ashes".
